The project “Condensate from Wood Steaming for a Sustainable Textile Industry” aims to apply circular economy principles by valorizing condensate, a by-product of wood steaming, as a natural and eco-friendly dye for textile production. The project establishes industrial symbiosis between the wood and textile sectors by partially replacing synthetic dyes with condensate rich in polyphenolic compounds. This approach reduces chemical use, water and energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and wastewater pollution associated with conventional textile dyeing. The project includes laboratory testing, process optimization, and pilot-scale application in cooperation with academic and industrial partners. By transforming an underutilized by-product into a valuable resource, the project improves resource efficiency, lowers environmental impact, and supports the development of sustainable textile production models applicable across the industry.
