A workshop where participants discussed enhancing regulations related to by-products and the termination of waste status took place in the United Nations building in Belgrade.
The workshop began with opening addresses by Sandra Dokić, State Secretary in the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and Miroslav Tadić, a program analyst at UNDP. They emphasized the importance of updating regulations for better management of by-products and the effective abolition of waste status, which is crucial for minimizing waste and maximizing the use of available resources. Such regulatory improvements can lead to significant environmental and economic benefits.
During the workshop, proposed changes to the existing regulations regarding the registration of by-products and the termination of waste status were presented. The proposals outlined specific changes and the expected positive impacts on the environment and the economy. Experiences from Croatia were also shared, providing a practical perspective on the advantages and challenges faced in this area.
The workshop concluded with a discussion, where ideas were exchanged for further enhancing the regulatory framework.
