Circular Economy

“A business model that saves and renews natural resources and energy,
prolongs the use of materials and products, and reduces waste”

Over the past 50 years, unsustainable increases in energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and the amount of waste generated has quadrupled the global resource consumption.

Currently, less than 9% of the world economy is based on circular principles, despite these principles are necessary for a sustainable future economy.

To encourage and promote circular economy in a local context,
the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the UNDP
are jointly implementing the project:

Reducing the carbon footprint of local communities by applying the principles of the circular economy in the Republic of Serbia: Circular Communities

The project is financially supported by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF).
