The “Circular transformation of Novi Sad – waste is a resource!” initiative, led by the Institute for Regional Development, aims to empower informal waste collectors—especially vulnerable groups such as Roma, women, youth, and people with disabilities—by integrating them into the formal waste management system. The project expands household waste oil collection in Novi Sad, establishes five collection points, conducts educational workshops, and advocates for legal reforms to allow informal collectors to work legally without losing social benefits. It leverages a digital application for waste oil collection, promotes circular economy principles, and seeks to improve environmental protection and social inclusion.
