Tradition and Innovation towards Circular Agriculture
The project "Tradition and Innovation towards Circular Agriculture" aims to integrate innovative planting systems with biodegradable seedling pots in agricultural production. The initiative is a collaboration between the Institute Mihajlo Pupin and a startup company "Bifrost Bioplastics" DOO. The project develops an automated system for seedling production using robotics and artificial intelligence to monitor plant growth from seed preparation to transplantation. Biodegradable pots, made from waste materials, are designed to decompose in the soil, providing nutrients and reducing environmental impact. This process integrates sustainability by enhancing efficiency, reducing stress on plants during transplantation, and lowering the carbon footprint. The initiative expects to speed up production, making 3 products per minute, and aims to offset a negative carbon footprint of 5.8 tons of CO2 equivalent per ton of production
